What is endpoint repair with Assist?

Assist can diagnose and fix problems on employees’ computers. The employee describes the issue, such as “my VPN won’t connect”, and Assist runs read-only checks to find the cause, shows exactly what it will change, and waits for approval. It then makes the fix one step at a time, verifies the result, and records the run as a ticket.
Assist fixes software and configuration, not hardware faults. It needs Internet connection to reach its AI model, so it can’t help on a device that is fully offline.

Endpoint skills and tools

Each repair follows a skill, a playbook for one type of problem. A skill can only use its allowed tools: code-reviewed functions that each do one thing, such as check_vpn_status, flush_dns_cache or kill_process. Some skills examples:
  • disk-cleanup - frees up space by finding and removing large and temporary files
  • process-manager - fixes a slow computer or frozen app by stopping runaway processes and trimming startup items
  • vpn-repair - fixes VPN connections that fail or connect without letting traffic through
  • printer-repair - clears stuck print queues and restarts the print service when a printer is offline or not printing
  • usb-device-repair - fixes USB devices, docks and hubs that aren’t detected or aren’t responding
