What are proactive triggers?

Proactive triggers let Assist find problems before the employee notices them. In the background, Assist runs lightweight read-only checks on the computer, such as disk usage every hour. When a check matches a condition you set, such as a disk more than 90% full, Assist offers the employee a fix. If they accept, the fix runs exactly like a request they typed: same skill, same approvals, same ticket.
Triggers decide when to act, and AI decides how. The checks are simple rules, not AI, so they’re cheap to run and behave predictably. Assist never starts a fix on its own; the employee always chooses to run it.

What the employee sees

  • Assist shows a notification on computer, such as “Your disk is 95% full. Free up space?”.
  • The employee chooses Run now, Snooze (1 hour, 8 hours, 24 hours or until restart) or Dismiss. The same problem doesn’t raise a second offer while one is waiting.
  • Run now starts the matching skill. Assist still shows what it will change and waits for approval before making any change.

Set up proactive triggers

Each trigger sets a check, how often it runs, the condition, how long the condition must hold before an offer appears, and the skill that fixes the problem. A trigger can only use checks its skill already allows, so it can’t add new actions.
  1. Log in to the idemeum admin portal, go to Agents → Triggers, and add the triggers you want.
  2. Install the Assist app on macOS and Windows devices. Proactive checks are on by default. Assist keeps running in the menu bar or system tray when its window is closed, so checks stop only if the employee quits Assist.
  3. On a test device, add a trigger that will fire straight away, such as disk usage of 10% or more, and confirm the offer appears. Trigger changes reach devices within about 10 minutes.
